Here is my little cloth diaper baby. We had to use disposables for about a month because the diapers I originally made didn't fit, I wasn't expecting an almost 11 pound baby! So I caved and bought cloth diapers. These diapers will grow with Ollie and we will hopefully never have to buy a bigger size, they go up to 35 pounds.
With the disposables he was getting bad diaper rash and a rash where ever the diaper touched him. I would have to have him air out almost every change. And it wasn't like I was letting him sit in a dirty diaper either. Now with the cloth he doesn't have diaper rash or anything. He also sleeps longer because the cloth pulls the moisture away from his skin so he doesn't feel the wet while he is sleeping.
Now some people ask about the washing and stuff. Well I just put the dirty diapers in a water proof bag and then I do a load every other day. I just throw the diapers in the washer and wash like regular cloths. I wear gloves while I put the diapers in because I don't want to touch any poopy! Then they dry and I put them away. It is really easy, just another load of laundry. These diapers don't need a cover or anything. You put it on just like a disposable one, Brandon loves them and he is impressed. He was a little leery about the whole thing and he says it is just like disposables.
For the best part we save money! We spent about $200 in wipes and diapers when we weren't using cloth, that was only a month. That was crappy, literally. Now we can use these diapers over and over again so it is more of an investment. And it is better for the environment. My aunt told me you can't save the world, but you can do your part to help out. I feel much better that I wont be contributing diapers to landfills.
I can't say which brand I like the best yet. I'll wait till they have some use out of them. So far both Brandon and I are happy with our decision to use cloth.
